BMI compares weight with height. It can be a useful starting point for adults, but it does not directly measure body fat or overall health.

For adults aged 20 and older, the CDC lists below 18.5 as underweight, 18.5 to below 25 as healthy weight, 25 to below 30 as overweight, and 30 or above as obesity.
